Creating Local Guidance/Structure for the Early Adopter Program + Docs from Wirral

If you are new to the Map of Medicine consider taking a look at some of the Training docs we have collected

What do you do if you have an idea for a pathway, or see a gap that you feel needs filling?.

  1. I have an idea!
  2. Is there all ready a Map of Medicine National Care Pathway related to your idea?.
  3. If so, will the National Map serve your purpose
  4. Would any Local Admin info/links/docs added to any of the existing Nodes help?
  5. If not sufficient, do you think you need to create a new Pathway?
  6. Contact your local Map of Medicine Project Manager.

What will your Local Program Manager for the Map of Medicine do?:

  1. He/she may help you to check there if no pathway appropriate
  2. May be able to tell you about National Pathway about to be published.
  3. May be able to tell you about Local Pathways in other areas.
  4. They can check if there is a CRG (Clinical Reference Group*) or similar group related to your idea.
  5. If there is then direct you to a member of the CRG to discuss or attend to help.
  6. If it is Local Admin Info then this will be recorded by the group to discuss and one of the CRG members has the responsibility for Local Admin info.
  7. If it requires a new Pathway the CRG will consider if this fits as a priority within their strategy and explain this to you.

(*  CRG -  A group set up to represent to Local Health Economy regarding a certain area of Health such as Diabetes or Urology, usually involving clinicians & managers across Primary, Secondary and Community Care.)

What if you have noticed something that needs URGENT ATTENTION?

  1. Use the feedback button there and then and mark it Urgent.
  2. Also contact the local Map of Medicine Project Manager who will contact the relevant clinician/manager.
  3. Contact details TBA......

CRGs requirements to get involved with the Map of Medicine?:
The idea is to facilitate the work CRGs are all ready doing, to make things easier & simpler.

  2. Aware of Clinical & Strategic priorities
  3. Have an understanding on the Map of Medicine
  4. At least one clinician nominated to the Map of Medicine program.
  5. An administrator nominated to Map of Medicine functions.

What does the nominated
CRG Clinician need to do?

  1. Have an understanding of the Map of Medicine.
  2. Then help to other members of the CRG with their understanding.
  3. Understand which current Maps come under the umbrella of their CRG
  4. Coordinate & take responsibility for the Local Admin Info/links/docs on those pages.
  5. In conjunction with the Local Program Manager, be aware of future development such as new Maps/other Guidelines such as NICE.
  6. Look up subjects on the Map of Medicine should they arise for the CRG
  7. Help the CRG to Keep It Simple ( ie. try to just use Local Admin Info rather than creating a new Pathway, understand the amount of work generated by a new pathway)
  8. Respond to feedback sent via the Map of Medicine feedback button on the Map your CRG is responsible for.

What does the nominated CRG Administrator need to do?

  1. Have an understanding of the Map of Medicine.
